Matthew Gloag, the namesake grandson of the founder, took over the family business 96 years after its founding in 1800. A year later, he created a new blend, which he named "The Grouse Brand" in anticipation that many hunters would stop off in Perth during the hunting season. His daughter designed the matching label with the Scottish national bird. The whiskey immediately sold so well that within just a few years the name "The Famous" was added and the name "Brand" was simply omitted. And so the popular whisky is still called The Famous Grouse today. The Famous Grouse RUBY CASK whisky belongs to the Cask Series of The Famous Grouse. For this, different types of casks are used to create smooth blends with unique character. This whiskey is aged in casks flavored with port wine and develops a rich sweetness.
